Harvard police chief supports expansion into Devens

For the first time since it took charge in 1994, the agency overseeing the development of the former army base at Fort Devens said last week that it would invite Harvard, Shirley, and Ayer to bid on its next contract for police services.
At a meeting of the Board of Directors of MassDevelopment last Thursday, George Ramirez, executive vice president of Devens operations, announced that MassDevelopment would issue a request for services sometime in 2013 and would award a contract to the winning bidder by the end of the year.
