Harvard to Discuss the Devens Police Contract

MassDevelopment has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the policing of Devens; a service is currently provided by the Massachusetts State Police.   Twelve (12) officers are stationed at the Devens satellite police station.

The current Law (Chapter 498) specifies that, at contract renewal, the bidding must be open to the Towns of Ayer, Harvard and  Shirley, the Department of Defense and the Massachusetts State Police.

Currently, the Massachusetts State Police and the Town of Harvard have announced plans to bid for the Contract.

Representatives from the Town of Harvard have requested a Devens residents meeting in order to solicit concerns and questions regarding the potential supply of police services by the Town of Harvard.

Three (3) representatives from the Town of Harvard will be in attendance at the next Devens Committee meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, June 10th at the MassDevelopment offices in Conference Room 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Final proposals are due to MassDevelopment by June 28th and the final decision will be made by the MassDevelopment Board of Directors.
