DEVENS — Looking up at the 62-foot-high ceiling inside the New England Studios, Michael Meyers can easily imagine spotlights beaming down on actors and actresses standing around a bar set similar to the one from the popular TV show, Cheers.
Here, the lighting grids are 45 feet above the floor to allow for an extra-broad-spectrum of illumination, which is a “key element” in stage selection for movie producers, said Meyers, a developer of the studio. If producers wanted to shoot some office scenes, they would only need to slide open an oversized concrete sliding door to send actors into the annex stage.
