Hildreth Elementary School Principal Linda Dwight will be Harvard’s next superintendent of schools, contingent on successful completion of contract negotiations. The School Committee’s unanimous vote to hire Dwight followed 45 minutes of discussion at a special meeting last Saturday morning, Sept. 14. After voting, the School Committee went into executive session to discuss the terms of Dwight’s contract. Because interim Superintendent Joe Connelly’s contract runs through June 2014, Dwight will not assume her new post until July.
Committee Chairwoman SusanMary Redinger opened the meeting by describing the process by which the committee had evaluated Dwight’s application. Redinger noted that Dwight had met with faculty members of both Hildreth Elementary School (HES) and the Bromfield School. Dwight also took questions at a public forum and was interviewed by the school board in open meeting last week.
