Last week, the owners of a new, massive, and state-of-the-art film studio just off Jackson Road at Devens formally announced to the world that they’re open for business.
Investors and regional film advocates hope that New England Studios (or NEStudios, as the owners have branded it) becomes the new Hollywood East. But while the technical specifications of the $41 million complex are impressive, it’s the prospect of creating jobs and growing an infrastructure for filmmaking in the heart of central Massachusetts that excites the state’s film office, MassDevelopment, and local officials and educators.
