DEVENS — They were enemies, but also brothers in arms.
The Fort Devens cemetery hosted the annual German and Italian POW Remembrance Ceremony on Saturday, bringing together representatives the United States, Germany and Italy, nations that were enemies during World War II.

They were sons and brothers; they were fathers. They were “in touch daily with their own mortality.”
