Changes proposed in Devens Voting

SHIRLEY — Total votes at Super Town Meetings, and not a town-by-town count, should govern Devens, the head of the Joint Boards of Selectmen is recommending.

Harvard Selectman Leo Blair, chairman of the tri-board, said Thursday night that amending the state law will make it easier to schedule meetings, because Super Town Meetings must be held at the same time.

“The coordination of trying to put together a Super Town Meeting is tough, and it’s almost destined to fail,” he said. He doubted whether the Super Town Meeting, as it stands, is effective.
