Museum Audience Awed by Bulge Tale

DEVENS — Joe Landry and Christian de Marcken, both of whom spoke about the Battle of the Bulge at the Fort Devens Museum open house on Saturday, held their audience in an awed silence.

The talk started with Landry’s tale of the Battle — which, as students of history know, lasted from December of 1944 to about February of 1945.  It was named for the bulge-like advance of Nazi troops into Belgium, France and Luxembourg.

“It was to become the greatest battle ever fought by the U.S. Army,” Landry said.
