House Saves Tax Credit; will Senate make Sequel?

The House unanimously passed a $38.1 billion fiscal 2016 state budget on Wednesday that mainly falls in line with Gov. Charlie Baker’s spending blueprint.

Like the governor, the House tackled the unsustainable rising cost of health care, and increased overall spending by a modest 3 percent without raising taxes or fees.

That small budget increase is an acknowledgment of the $1.8 billion shortfall the state would otherwise face without curbing spending.
