DEVENS — Attention, Bay Staters. Technological ingenuity, one of the driving forces of the state’s economy, is bursting out of the laboratory in every direction.
On the ground, you might see, in the not-too-distant future, self-driving vehicles that rely on the work of Exponent, an engineering and scientific consulting firm with an office in Natick, along with some other companies. Look up to the sky and you might see drones, such as the multi-rotor aircraft developed by Unmanned Aerial Systems Development Inc. of Holliston, carrying a professional camera as heavy as 18 pounds to capture bird’s-eye views of the terrain.
Engineers and scientists behind many of such inventions descended on Devens on Tuesday and Wednesday to showcase their work at Devens Robotica 2015 while the conference hosts promoted the idea to use Devens as their year-round testing ground.
