DEVENS — A compromise has been reached regarding truck traffic on Walker Road in Shirley.

Peter Lowitt, director of the Devens Enterprise Commission, said the issue was sparked by Shirley officials, who raised neighborhood complaints regarding truck traffic to the Devens wastewater treatment plant.

Shirley has jurisdiction to permit a driveway curb cut for a proposed greenhouse facility, to be called Salad Bowl Farms, that MassDevelopment has lined up for a Devens site off Walker Road.

Lowitt told Shirley officials the issue involves several entities, including MassDevelopment, the state agency in charge of redeveloping the former Devens military base, Devens’ utilities and the haulers with contracts to use the wastewater-treatment facility, which is also linked to Shirley’s public sewer system.
