DEVENS — Workers commuting from Boston to the Devens area could soon take the train if MBTA’s plan to add early-morning outbound trains becomes a reality.
In anticipation of a new earlier train from Boston arriving in Littleton as early as 7:36 a.m., the Devens Enterprise Commission (DEC) and Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART) are working on a project to shuttle workers between the station and businesses in Devens.
The tentative schedule would get people from Boston to Littleton an hour and a half earlier than the 8:37 a.m. current arrival time, providing enough time for riders to reach their worksites on time. While this train would turn around inbound in Littleton, a second train to Littleton would continue to travel toward Fitchburg, arriving in Littleton at 8:06 a.m., Ayer at 8:14 a.m. and Shirley at 8:19 a.m., according to MART Administrator Mohammed Khan.
