DEVENS — Members of the Greatest Generation stepped up over 70 years ago, fighting battles across the globe for freedom.

“All gave some, and some gave all,” said Gov. Charlie Baker. World War II veterans had the courage, bravery and grit needed to fight and win World War II.

More than 70 veterans in their 80s and 90s came to Fort Devens on Oct. 23 for Heroes Remembered, a ceremony to honor the veterans of the war. Many used canes or walkers, others could stand proudly, unassisted, while generations of Americans, who owe their freedom to these men and women, thanked them.
