Training Officer Accidentally Shot at Devens Range

DEVENS – A Municipal Police Training Committee instructor was accidentally shot by a fellow instructor at a U.S. Army firing range Wednesday morning.

Officials said they mistakenly identified the victim as a Randolph police officer in initial accounts of the shooting.

The instructor suffered a gunshot wound shortly after 10:05 a.m. Felix Browne, a spokesman for the Municipal Police Training Committee said the victim was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, where he is reported in stable condition. No recruits were at the firing range when the accident occurred.
